This week for writing we had to write about an animal and I picked Elephants so I did a report about them..
Elephants are mostly found in savannas, grasslands and forests. They can also live in a wide range of habitats including deserts, swamps and highlands in tropical and subtropical regions of Africa and Asia.
Elephants eat roots,Grasses, fruit and bark.An adult elephant can consume up to 300 pounds of food in a single day. These hungry animals do not sleep much, roaming great distances while foraging for the large quantities of food that they require to sustain their massive bodies.
There are many different kinds of species like the Indian elephant, the Asian elephant, the African bush elephant, the palaeoloxodon naumanni elephant, the African forest elephant, the Borneo elephant and the Sri Lankan elephant.
Elephants have 2 hours of sleep and that leaves time to eat, find drinking water and play. They get 2 hours of sleep each night, this sounds like an awful way for a human to live, but it might be normal rest for elephants. They also spend time roaming to look for food and water sources with occasional breaks to play.
An elephants trunk is actually a long nose used for smelling, breathing, trumpeting, drinking and also for grabbing thing-especially a potential meal. The trunk alone contains about 40,000 muscles.African elephants have two fingerlike features on the end of their trunk that they can use to grab small items
Kia Ora Erin, I really enjoyed reading about your elephant information report. You have included lots of facts and they are organized into clear paragraphs. Perhaps you can also include a conclusion? Amazing work!
